Pessimistic literature and art can be cathartic when you desire to express negative emotions, but that eventually gets tiring. Treating reality as ontologically disposed to ubiquitous suffering is useless if youโre trying to make strides in self-improvement. It also contains the same fallacies as dogmatic optimism, except pessimists who will point out the naivety of optimism will treat their emotionally-charged perspective with intellectual seriousness in spite of this.
