We just had threads on how Boomer dystopias are actually utopian compared to the real world they created despite having been gifted the most prosperous, secure civilization in human history. In A Brave New World and 1984 everyone has a job and a purpose. The know the rules. No bait and switch "lrn2 code, oops, lmao, AI can do that so go fucking die so Bezos can get even richer and go to space fgt."

A Brave New World is obviously a bit nicer, but 1984 had clear rules, universal employment, no hypergamy, no replacement migration making you a foreigner in your own land. It's ironic now how there are extreme rates of nostalgia for even the worst decline periods of the Warsaw Pact in Eastern Europe versus the absolute shit show that is neoliberalism.

This is probably no different. "OMG, you have to confirm!!! Freedom is acting hecking random and having no culture and no faith and just le market and consooming whatever you just so happen to want!!!! XD

I would swap to 1984 in a heartbeat. They don't bombard their children with hardcore porn from age 7 and addict you to corn syrup caffeine obesity slush and vidya before you learn to read.

Conformity. How awful. Imagine being brought up in the bad old days with forced solidarity in physical training and having to read Homer and Virgil instead of ebin expressionist stream of consciousness shit. Imagine the whole village having to celebrate holidays almost every week. Totally awful.

>The hero is memory-wiped and banished to the prison planet Omega, where he finds a society just as stratified as the one he has left - except that the criminals are on top and virtue brings no rewards
Pessimistic SF is always right.
