>reading a book in a foreign language
>thinking about translating if (if it's any good, I just started it)
>it's a school edition from the 30's intended for a foreign language class in America
>the editor says "luckily most of the words are of the 3096 common vocab words, so I've seen no reason to rewrite any portion of the novel..."
>phew, had me sweating there
>"...but I have decided to omit some choice bits..."
OH MY GOOD THIS FUCK BOWDLERIZED THE ORIGINAL TEXT BECAUSE IT WAS A SCHOOL EDITION

online scans suck. They always have blurred or missing pages.

And you can't compare a couple to find the pages that are missing in one?

No. It's not on Anna's Archive or the Internet Archive. As I've said I just started reading it. It seems to be a sub-par crime novel. It only has two editions as far as I know. The original 1934 French edition, and the 1938 American edition (in French) for American students of French. I was thinking of translating it because it is untranslated, and the editor claims the French author is a genius writer.

Visites Nocturnes by Tristan Bernard. He seems to be most famous for his witticisms and crossword clues.
