What happened to Generative Anthropology? This got memed (after Nietzsche, Curt Doolittle, and a dozen other thinkers) on /r/anarcho_capitalism maybe 8 or 9 years ago. The proponents claimed it would be the political theory to end all political theories. It looked like complete word salad to me but there were international conferences being held promoting it with actual tenured professors. After around 2019 I never saw it discussed again.

It's still around but I'm not sure how widespread it is. It may not have a closed lifespan beyond how willing the participants are to continue. The origination event is usually set to deferral of violence rather than initiation thereof. Most results are mitigation efforts with heavy emphasis on memetics. There is always some sort of redesign of what is currently happening in it. By this standard it's hard to say how much new development it has achieved since The End of Culture was released.
