It's funny how the thing almost everybody reads from Austen is Pride & Prejudice, when I'd argue it's one of her weaker novels. She definitely "levels up" in her last three books, compared to her first three.

In particular I wonder why Emma's not more popular. It's the superior book, and for the women readers I think it has the superior Austen hero. Mr. Knightley is even more dashing and formidable of a figure than Mr. Darcy.

Because Emma is a cunt. So the reader has to embrace her inner cunt to read Emma correctly.

That may all be true and I now do look forward to reading Emma after having enjoyed Pride and Prejudice
But Emma is clearly an absolute bottom of the barrel unimaginative weak little title for a novel compared to Pride and Prejudice
