Vilar has misidentified a minor reverse current for the major flow of society. It's not that she's wrong -- women absolutely do leverage sex for power -- but this doesn't imply men have become slaves. For starters, men could exercise financial and political control over women historically which directly relates to your individual wellbeing more than the ability to have sex. This allowed the creation of institutions which curb women's ability to leverage sex for power.
Secondly, men aren't slaves to their id. Any well adjusted man can forego sex indefinitely if engaging in it would be harmful to his moral or physical wellbeing.

Not applicable. There are feminized redditors etc, but in most cases their partner is a surrogate mom, and even if they are cheating on them or cucking them, the man is still getting more out of the relationship than the woman, who has a full time adult child on her hands which she has to emotionally support with 24/7 and who she probably out earns.

Her analysis of men and religion is so bad it makes you wonder if her analysis of women is right in the first place. It only analyses "trad stay-at-home women" too so it holds very little value in today's world. The only reason this book gets recommended is because it was written by a woman; but it seems like women can't even criticize themselves without seeming incompetent while doing so

I do think some of the discourse on objectification goes too far. The dirty secret is that a small amount of objectification is kind of pleasurable.
