Not true. I was reading Dangerous Liaisons and asked GPT to tell me who the fuck Julie was and it absolutely couldn't. It thought Julie was Cecile, that Valmont was Merteuil and that the hunter was Valmont.
Completely useless and I had to look up the pdf to see where Julie was first introduced

Indeed. AI has shown literature for what it is, a house of cards. Too much time is spent reading books, when you can get the gist quickly and easily, without having to spend days reading. In the future there will be no books, no libraries, only chat gpt.
