This is kinda cringe.. The deliverator is just so silly edgy itโ€™s like Iโ€™m faced with some 14 year olds idea of what he thinks is cool. I just wanna read about the cool techno future and its effects. Every book in this genre is about some really tough badass cool guy shooting and I just donโ€™t care.

Yes. That is the point: Snow Crash is satire. Chiefly of Deleuze.

That's cool man. Next time during the Deliverator Pizza Sequence you might have noticed how Sonichu the whole "cool skater girl saves the day for Simpsons Pizza Mafia while the Samurai ex-coder delivery man fails his dex save" is obvious hyperbole. Identifying hyberbole as a deliberate technique is the chief lesson to learn. The next lesson is to not read satire as your first "genre specifying" text: the satire will use all of the tools of the genre, but amplify them to the point of ridicule of the genre itself.

Stephenson is a petty ironist, but his petty irony is at least well written. Also the "TOTALLY NOT AN ESKIMO" nuked nuclear armed motorcycle gang member for that matter.

I thought it was really gay and none of the humor landed with me.

Honestly I don't think I've ever read a good cyberpunk book.

now i know why i disliked it: even the satire perspective is dull.
now, the worst is the little girl POV; i'm not a little girl.
tl;dr: it's queer.

Anon the protagonist's name is Hiro Protagonist.

When I read it I was wondering whether it can be not blatant enough for some people, and you provide the definitive conclusion.

>TOTALLY NOT AN ESKIMO
I thought he was an Aleut deliberately to make him ridiculously superspeshal and provide him the most buckbroken tragic backstory possible.

YT's whole point is acting so mature for her age that it circles back to childish. She's such a jaded, bitter roastie forever disappointed in the whole world that it functions indistinguishably from your regular-ass rebellions teenager.

Sounds like "The Diamond Age" is more what you're looking for. Plus, the main character gets gangraped.
