Post examples of notable world figures who were also writers of literature.
Starting things off: John Paul II was a playwright.
what's up with the new pope he's been kinda quiet or is the mainstream media just not reporting his statements because he's not a communist like the last guy
>>24527927He's a bit of a slow and deliberate guy, and when it comes to liturgy and doctrine he's clearly more conservative than Francis. He's also only been Pope for about two months. He needs time to make an impact.
>>24527927Progressives and trads have both been saying that he might be Francis II but just quieter while keeping trad cath content by speaking in Latin every once in a while and occasionally performing traditional acts
>>24527917 (OP)Napoleon wrote a novel, Marx wrote plays
>Saddam Hussein
Zabibah and the King
The Fortified Castle
Men and the City
Begone, Demons
>Mao
Plenty of poems, very popular in China
>>24528054He's absolutely not going to be Francis 2, at the very least he seems to like the Latin Mass more than Francis did, he's already granted an indult to a few communities to continue their Latin Masses.
Charles de Gaulle's memoirs are as popular as any other famous memoirs (Rousseau, Chateaubriand...) in France. He's actually considered to be a great writer. Too bad he never finished them before croaking because what he planned with him talking to previous French historical figures like Joan of Arc and Napoleon seemed kino. He was also pretty famous before WWII for his political works like Le Fil de l'épée that Hitler himself read and annotated (and he ended using the same strategy that de Gaulle described could be fatal to France).
Marcus Aurelius is an obvious one.
Václav Havel was a playwright, poet and essayist before becoming the president of Czechoslovakia
>>24528099What you said is exactly in line with what I've been saying though. For every Latin Mass there's a statement about immigrants and a questionable appointement.
>>24528134He appointed Pizzaballa to the Dicastery for Consecrated Life, I consider that a big win.
>>24528141He also appointed Cardinal Roche kek. Which is definitely in line with what he's preaching outwardly. He could always try to 4D chess it but we'll have to see, I don't think that's gonna be the case.
>>24528153Well, whatever. The world had moved on from Francis by the end of his papacy, including in the Church. Events won't tolerate another Francis 2. We'll see if Leo can adapt. I think his instincts are good, but we'll see.
>>24528156He seems amicable so I'd like to see him succeed.
