>All the Great Men of the world, without exception, have been voracious readers of literature.
What the fuck is the link between reading a book and becoming a great leader? Napoleon, Stalin, Hitler, Caesar, Alexander have all been described as obsessive readers. Stalin has read more than 20,000 books in his lifetime, all annotated by himself and Hitler would read one book per night. Same with Napoleon, who had private-library-on-wheels that he would take on his military conquests. Alexander the Great had his favorite copy of Illiad that he took everywhere he went and constantly requested new books to be delivered to him while campaigning in Asia.

They were in a privileged position of A) having money to acquire books at will, B) having free time and energy to read, unburdened by manual labor, C) having a wealthy family and good education that encouraged them to read.

So it's not like reading made them great, but they could read because they already had the resources to reach greatness.

Hitler used to be penniless in Vienna and there's this incredible memory from his closest friend from that time where they were walking down the streets of Vienna and Hitler is talking about how he is going to rebuild the whole city and change this building and that building and build a great palace and his friend asks him "how the fuck are you going to do that? you are literally a broke bum" and Hitler looks at him and smiles and doesn't say anything else.

>and the capital
Moscow was not that capital at the time, Petersburg was.
>just to avoid facing napoleon
But Borodino happened, as one of the largest engagements of the entire Napoleonic war, and both armies got decimated there. And Napoleon also fought the Russian army at Vitebsk, Smolensk, Maloyaroslavets, Krasnoi, Vyazma and Berezina, which were all clusterfucks for both sides. Alexander as his staff were never coy to fight Napoleon, they refused to give him le proper pitched battle on ideal ground in perfect circumstances. And that did bvckbreak him, and ended with Cossacks raping Parisian bitches.

As France and Germany itself prove, it was the right decision.
