There is actually a Homer self insert in the odyssey but itโ€™s not Odysseus. Itโ€™s Demodocus the blind poet.

Ackchyually the blind poet was a trope not exclusive to Homer, in fact Homer being blind came from one of the Homeric Hymns which weren't written by Homer.
