What is /lit/ best knowledge on the six perfections? Is it canon from the buddha (theravada) or is it made up from mahayanists?

>canon from the buddha (theravada)
The Theravadins like to say this, but there's little evidence that their form of Buddhism bore much resemblance to whatever the Buddha himself actually preached. If you ask a Theravadin about this directly they'll say that the Three Baskets are really old and if you ask them what came in the century+ before the Three Baskets they'll just repeat themselves

Abandon concepts. The Dharma is very simple: give up everything. The rest of the path (and the path is very long), is sitting and walking and sleeping.

They were derived from the Buddha.

>unreality is the first entrance

The Theravada have 4 more.

>that a dreamer fancies he sees things is well known to everyone

Depending on which school there is also an additional one. You only get 1 shot.
