Haven’t read Augustus yet, or Nothing But The Night, but I’m sure they’re miles better than the pathetic incel dross that was Stoner. Butcher’s Crossing is one of the best Westerns I’ve read.

Stoner is glazed not so much because it’s a good novel but because it makes a certain type of young man feel seen. It’s Ottessa Moshfegh for bookish types who fail with women and can’t get a proper career going.
