>>24534973I refuse to continue reading Clash of Kings until that fat bastard finishes Winds. It seems so dumb to try to read any series that will never be finished.
I know GRRM says he has failsafes in place to make it so no one will finish his story after he dies, but you can't have that bullshit and then not finish it yourself. You're doing a disservice to your fans, and holding a story that means so much to so many people hostage because you're lazy, a coward, complacent, or all of the above.

>>24535001The first four seasons are some of my favorite seasons of television ever. I watch them once a year. It's the biggest shame that it couldn't stay consistently good or stick the landing.

>>24534994Preston Jacobs' fanfic project is ongoing, but it's hit or miss and it's all his crackpot theories. Some of the prose is decent (I really liked his Bran and Damphair chapters) but it's inconsistent and he adds random gay shit for no fucking reason. Like his group forgot all of the subtlety of the homosexual characters in the actual books and only remember them in the show. So your mileage may vary.
But the people who will probably finish the books is James S.A. Corey with Elio and Linda's assistance. Last year Elio said, 'the book is coming out, one way or another' while alluding to the possibility of George's death.

I would actually really like that plot if Pierce leans into the whole manipulated tyrant thing. Like imagine being that little bastard. You're not supposed to exist. You are a pale imitation of the original. You want your sister who is not truly your sister's approval and do all this fucked up shit to get to her only to have her try and kill you. your "mother" wants to fuck you because she wanted to fuck the original. you had no agency. no choice. i think faux jackal is going to have a redemption arc. It's a very comfy book.
>>24535172Ephraim is so based. His POVs were the best. I loved Iron Gold for the same reason as it gave the series the valuable world building it needed. One big criticism I had though was that it expected the readers to know who the fuck Apollonius was as there was a history between him and Darrow that we didnโt know. It was jarring trying to understand what was happening.

Captcha: GPT2N
Red Rising author kinda had a mistake of rising to many plot threads without having a clue what to do with them
That's a mistake, sure. Books not perfect.
But I'dd much rather have the author try to fix this, by dropping those plot threads. Than keep going the wrong direction and ruin the series with endless bloat.
Which is kinda what we see happening in the last book, right?
I've seen a lot of people criticizing the author for dropping plot threads. And I'm like: "No, no! This is a good thing."
Mistakes was already made long ago, this is author course correcting

That's like two actual plot events with hundreds of pages of Lysander playing politics, Lyria sperging, and Ephraim doing drugs and crime. As for why people complain about things not happening, I can't say it's ADHD, because I have severe ADHD and love that shit. Nothing better than a slow story where you get to get a good understanding of the world and characters. Maybe they don't love the characters as much as they love what happens to them.

RIGHT! Also the thing with Sevro inheriting his father's hat and contacting the hidden fleet nobody knew about - that seem super done and dropped now, just like Figment
>>24535273Fix the poll you pixie
>>24535284>House Arcos deserves betterI tell you what, there's at least a whole books worth of Arcos daughter-in-law shennanigans that just happens in the background for some reason. The fact that the remainder of the family were such diehard ride or die hoes even after the revelation of the rising, given what Brown has said about Lorns hypothetical reaction, is fucking interesting and it just never gets brought up.
Rhonna and Alexander would have been so cute together....
>>24535293Lysander is mentally ill and spends the entire series convincing himself heโs a good person when he knows heโs not. >>24535374The Way of Kings is the one to read

>>24535346>Romans in space, MC hiding his identity and participating in the class power struggleJust read this. It got so many of the same parts, yet an entirely different vibe and execution.
It really seems very inspired by Red Rising, in the part that the main character is "fighting the system" from within and a lot of the tension coming from him having the keep his identity secret.
Plot being mostly contained in an elite boarding school, where the students will have to fight each other. Main character just being better than everyone else, just like Red Rising!
The direction of the plot is clearly for the main character to go on and rise in the ranks of the empire so he can take it down from within. Just like Red Rising!
I really liked this book. First in a new series.
It's definitively a lot "boringer", and less risquรฉ than Red Rising. No one is pissing on each other.
Book is a bit longer than it should have to be. This is a hallmark of the author, lol.
Maybe I just really really like hungry games.
>>24535374Read Mistborn solely because it's a good concept.

>>24535388I implore you, read this authors first trilogy. It helps you see where The Will of The Many comes from. It's not in the slightest inspired by Red Rising, it's a purely superficial connection.

Darrow destroying the docks was a completely justifyiable action, and frankly I don't know why he was so torn up about it.
>>24535540This is a general. There shouldn't be specific book discussion. One off posts about a book are ideal. That's what the grrm threads and others that should exist would be for.
Odds are that the "discussion" is mostly self-replies.
>>24535554That has been self-evident by the short sentence structure and vague/vapidposting ("omg this scene was BASED").

>>24535549This is a completely bullshit and arbitrary line you've made. Stifling conversation about books is not the point of a general. The usual posts about sff books from the 80s that no one else is currently reading and thus only get one or two replies is NOT the golden standard for book discussion here.

I just can't get over Ruocchio repeating the phrases. It just seems like such an obvious "no-no".
