I understand such questions, but I doubt anyone would be qualified to answer. For that you'd need to be a fluent Portuguese and English speaker and had extensively compared all the different translations.

it's especially pessimistic because he split off different sides of himself into different alteregos and explored those sides of himself in those guises. it's not him being a hypocrite, it's him writing the dark stuff he felt as this guy rather than the other stuff as all the other guys
