Currently going through Robinson Crusoe but I’m looking for other classic or kino fiction or non fiction Atlantic stories. Any suggestions?

I first read the Odyssey, Robinson Crusoe, then Treasure Island one after another in that order. It was accidental at the time but those are three books that follow on very well from each other and you can see the influences.

Matthiessen made a living as a small boat fisherman for a few years while living on Long Island. It’s about how that way of life was gradually forced out by a combination of regulations, commercial development and over-fishing.
For a few years it did sound like a tough but interesting way to make a living when book sales were meager.

This one gets slept on, probably because we are all sick of being made to read Lord of The Flies
