I always thought he looked a bit like Nigel Farage. I wonder if they're distantly related.

There is no way one could say he is forgotten.
I got some random edits about him flushed onto my Instagram page pretty often, even though I don't want this shit. I don't know if these people actually read him.
And on reddit there is some fucking cult out there. I remember scrolling through some Camus-dedicated subreddit and some person made a altar with a big picture of Camus on the wall and all his books and pictures and whatnot. I was weirded out and never went their again.

They act like he is the new Jesus and I think he won't be forgotten that quickly.
Because their will always be people that use authors like him as a status symbol, he won't be forgotten. In actual literature circles he was maybe a starting point for most, but will be irrelevant after reading some actual thinkers.

Hes not. Camus is the most midwitted philosopher of the current age, he's hacking himself into my social media algorithm for some fucking reason. Normies love him and no one else.

Those are strong pulls.

From what I remember reading as a teen his entire philosophy was

>life is meaningless
>don‘t care, live anyway

And as far as his contribution to absurdism goes

>societal orders and customs don‘t matter
>do whatever

Am I wrong /lit/? Should I reread Camus?

we call people whose philosophy actually works "midwits?"

I meant moreso about his audience. But yes, a philosophy that "works" is one that appeals to the midwit. Its a very boring conclusion to take on life and to me cannot really be considered "philosophy", there is no study of knowledge, it is the suicide of the intellectual yearning
