>>24540110You're equivocating. The word graphic novel was coined specifically to refer to a PUBLICATION FORMAT, while the word novel wasn't. You can't equivocate between the two without being dishonest. Yes, novels have often been published in serialized format. A graphic novel BY DEFINITION cannot be published in serialized format, as it's a specific publication format in and of itself.
I understand that the Dunning-Kruger is strong in you and that it's a huge blow to your ego to admit to being wrong, but the fact is that you just saw a word you recognized (novel) and assumed it meant the same thing in both usages, when it does not.
A novel is much more amorphous and free-form than a graphic novel. A novel can be published in serialized format in magazines or split into many parts like Lord of the Rings was, but this doesn't change their nature as novels since the definition of a novel doesn't take into account how the material is initially published.
A graphic novel by contrast is a specific PUBLICATION FORMAT, and I keep repeating this because I know for a fact that you won't understand it if I don't keep hammering this point home.
A GRAPHIC NOVEL IS A PUBLICATION FORMAT. IT'S A SPECIFIC FORM OF PUBLISHING A COMIC BOOK. IT IS NOT A "NOVEL IN COMIC FORM" LIKE YOU THINK IT IS.
I don't know how I can reach you. It's like I'm talking to a fucking wall. GRAPHIC NOVEL = PUBLICATION FORMAT
Do you get it yet? Do you get it yet you mouthbreathing, knuckledragging, monosyllabic trogdlodyte?
