I've done at least a little bit of reading, and it really seems to me that by the time the war was nearly at hand the Nazis had run all their truly interesting guys out of the party. They'd run off Carl Schmitt by that point, as well as that one Nazi who wanted to reform the banking system. You'll notice that communism doesn't have this problem despite causing as much chaos and bloodshed throughout history as fascism, if not more, and despite the fact that communism's main countries are as dead and defunct as fascism's main countries. Communism has way better PR than it deserves, despite the fact that if you're going to call fascism a "loser" ideology then communism could just as fairly be called that.

Read Notes on the Third Reich by Evola. It's very short, basically an essay, and he has an interesting perspective because he was not a pearl-clutching modern faggot who couldn't see what was valid about fascism, but at the same time he was moderately hostile to the NSDAP regime because he felt it was TOO effective at socialism and thus not aristocratic enough for him. So if you want to see what a Volksgemeinschaft looks like through the eyes of a right-winger who has a mixed and balanced perspective, I recommend it.

I also recommend Thomas Rohkramer's works, especially A Single Communal Faith (in English) and The Fatal Attraction of National Socialism (unfortunately only in German). He portrays the regime so objectively that he has been accused of whitewashing it.

I also recommend reading Alexander von Plato's article, "The Hitler Youth generation and its roles in the two postwar German states," in Mark Roseman, ed., Generations in Conflict: Youth Revolt and Generation Formation in Germany, 1770-1968. It shows you how powerful the Hitler Youth training really was. It didn't create fanatics, it created responsible people who were basically aching to serve the common good, with the result that after the war ended and Germany was re-Weimar'ed, they first rebuilt Germany in the Wirtschaftswunder, and then were left restless in post-reconstruction liberalism, and didn't understand why the next generations of young people were so useless and dead inside.
