Do you prefer hardcover books or paperbacks? Is it important to you, if you choose to read a book?

It's related to literature. The literature you read is either bound as a hardcover or paperback.

It should be. Look at the question in your OP. Do you really care which I prefer? Hardcovers I guess. There's your answer. Now delete your thread.

Hardcovers are preferable. The paperbacks I bought as a young man are all beat to shit, they don't hold up well

Pocket paperbacks by far. Hardcovers are rigid, heavy, and who cares about durability when they'll go to the landfill after your death anyway ?

Whatever is cheaper. Generally unimportant.
Maybe generally thicker books hardcover. Some publisher have better hardcovers while other do a shitty job. But in probably all cases paperback is cheaper so I just pick that.

Depends on the quality of the print. Paperbacks are handy but US paperback are toilet paper quality. My country basically only printed hardbacks until like 2007 (seriously) but then publishers jumped onto the US paperback model and it all went down.

Japanese paperbacks are usually pretty good quality.

That's quite late. Here in Germany paperbacks have been a thing since the 50s already.

Is it a classic and a book I want to savour? Hardcover.
Is it a sub-200 pager from an obscure author? Whatever is the cheapest.
There are exactly 2 exceptions. Arden Shakespeare and Norton Critical Editions. Also, sometimes the best translation is only available in paperback. Translation > notes > form factor.

Unironically ereader. I can't stand reading a physical book after I got gifted the kindle. The customization options are just too good.

Of course he is. It's always newfags who try to board police. They want to belong to something so badly.

Irony is they'll finally be native when they stop giving a shit.

I get whatever's cheapest second hand usually, which tends to be paperbacks but you'd be surprised how many hardcovers are inexplicably priced lower than their paperback equivalent
