I'd heard it wad good, got it, kino intro, then some normal humies enter the story and it's kind of jarring and when it goes back to chAdstartes they are doing some gay moon ritual so I dropped. I am being glib, it's well written but the plot threads didn't interest me enough. I might reconsider finishing it at some point.

I fucking love it, OP. I'm on book 4. I've read the Eisenhorn and Ravenor series before this, the Astartes are the most fun. Definitely not "high sci fi" in any sense, somewhat comic booky, but fun as fuck.
Book 3 reminded me of Gates of Fire to be frank. Sad and fatalistic but an excellent read.
