I read Midnight’s Children shortly after reading both Gravity’s Rainbow and 100 Years of Solitude. Its takes strongly from both, almost to the point of derivation - the prose from the former and the plot along with many scenes from the latter. I could forgive his pynchon-lite prose if his drama was evocative, like 100 years

His work is derivative. There is nothing he adds to my brain so I've never bothered much with him except Midnight's Children and a couple of shorts.
