"If Lucy had really met a faun-that is, a satyr-the result would have been a rape, not a tea party"

The thing I don’t get is that Tolkien took generic fantasy races and put his own spin on them, adding unique cultural and social characteristics to them. Why can’t Lewis do the same with Satyrs?

"Worldbuilding" is a low iq generalization. What makes a world feel real is depth of the content. He studied anglo saxon culture and languages. He was interested in migrations. Being an intellectual shows in his work.

Lotr and Hobbit:
>There are mentions of trains (19th century invention).
> There are potatoes (food from South America)
>The month of April (Roman creation)
>Names like Sancho and Esmeralda (Spanish origin)
>Mantelpiece clock (18th century invention)
>Fireworks (Chinese invention)
>Mixes of different mythologies

This is the fag giving shit to Lewis because a faun doesn't rape a child at first sight and it's le bad world building lmao

You’re misunderstanding the function of language and cultural references in fantasy. Tolkien intentionally used modern words and real-world inspirations to create resonance for the reader — not because Middle-earth is literally a pre-Industrial version of Earth.

He even said in his letters that the language used is a “translation” — so "April," "potato," or "Sancho" are meant to reflect a familiar equivalent in our terms, not actual historical crossovers.

If you want pure invented language for every concept, you’d be reading an unreadable brick of Elvish, because, afterall, lotr is really the translated red book of westmarch.

Narnia is deliberately meant to be a bit of a fairytale realm in a way Middle-Earth is not. I think it's unfair for Tolkien to judge Lewis by his own standards when clearly Lewis had standards of his own and thought he met them.

Neither of them were poofters.
I assume you're suggesting that *eventually* she's raped by the faun, which is why she can't endlessly get closer to god in book 7 because she's not allowed to return because she entered the world of sex and death?

There's no letter, it's Inklings gossip. Specifically Tolkien was irritated that CS Lewis had Father Christmas in a pagan setting like Narnia.
>When he heard that Lewis had shown the story to Green, Tolkien turned on Green with vehemence and declared: “It really won’t do, you know! I mean to say: ‘Nymphs and their Ways, The Love-Life of a Faun’. Doesn’t he know what he’s talking about?”
This is probably the same conversation the rape quote came from

Being a gentle man and showing chivalry, kindness, and hospitality to visitors is not faggotry.
Being a violent man who wants to violate other men forcefully until they leak bodily fluids, and spew profanity, that is faggotry.

It is irritating when a well-established mythical beast is cleaned up and its name, essentially, misused: this is the one big flaw of the Conqueror Worm fantasy novel, which randomly assigns monster names to what are essentially just groups of men.

The tragedy of Lewis and Tolkein is that they were both smart enough to avoid the pitfalls of modern fantasy "discourse" and just didn't, it seems. Excellent representatives of the best of both approaches but never reconciled, thus leading to the idea that one was right and the other wrong in a way that matters. It could've been over before it started, instead we have fully grown men screaming at eachother about how important biology is to dragons or the logistics of the geography and engineering of a fairy tale kingdom, with all the counterarguments being facetious deflections from the idea of storytelling needing any internal consistency at all.

All of the ingrates here calling him a nonce for this supposed statement are genuinely retarded. If I were to say "If the infants Romulus and Remus really met a Wolf, the result would have been a meal, not child rearing." That doesn't mean I fantasise about the concept of children being eaten by wolves.

All of you niggers complaining about "how could Tolkien have said such a crass thing about muh cute loli" don't really know anything about the satyrs of myth. Their entire being was based around sexuality and the bestial nature of man. The lower half quite literally represents the beastly nature of man made manifest explicitly through their sexuality within the loins, his upper torso resembling man because of the divine nature of reason that resides within the brain. Half of their depictions are with their dicks hard, as much as I don't give a shit about Tolkien, he was entirely justified in saying this.
Now with all of that being said
>UOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH
