Cognitive abilities are different but if you can study the alphabet and basic sentences then you can read. The hard part will be finding something fun to push the momentum.

It depends.

Stupid people tend to be tastelets who enjoy everything about the same. You will often find them on review sites giving everything an 8/10, restaurants, movies, tv, literature, games, art, museums exhibits, roller coasters, whatever.

You may be duped into thinking that stupid people are just uncomfortable sharing their opinions, this is a popular cope. BUT, if you've ever dated an attractive stupid person and gotten to know them, you will know this is not the case. They really just don't experience the world the same way.

For them, an 8/10 is their genuine experience. If something seems professionally done, and if other people seem to like it, they like it too. For that reason, the increased time/effort involved in reading doesn't interest them. But back when books were the only option, they did read books.

>Do you comprehend everything you read?
I'm not sure I could actually answer that question accurately (how would I know if i misunderstood something). But it is beside the point because OP asked about enjoying, not comprehending.

Good point. I don't understand music theory at all and that hasn't stopped me from enjoying the experience, why should it be any different for books? At least for fiction and poetry, I mean--stuff that's created primarily to be experienced emotionally.

If there was a book about answering this question would you read it?
It takes interest not IQ. If you earnestly desire to know or enjoy something you will do what is necessary and even difficult to accomplish it.
The problem nowadays is that lots of people lack any sort of drive.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. A baby can take joy in the sound of its mother's voice before it understand the words. good fiction works on multiple levels and you don't need to pick up on all of the allegory of The Farie Queene to enjoy the poetry or the knights fighting each other or the comedy hijinks.

Have you tried reading something that might pique your interest, you can start small, such as articles? How does /lit/ feel about manga?

Almost no one is too stupid to read. You're just lazy and untrained. If you force yourself, put in the time to read, then you'll soon enough find that it is very easy. It's a simple matter of choosing between instant gratification, e.g. browsing social media, or a delayed but much larger gratification and pay off.

i imagine the higher your iq is the more enjoyable reading is
it's why most people don't like reading because they have average iqs which prevent them from enjoying reading

No, the enjoyment of literary fiction rarely requires intelligence - just patience and a minimal capability for introspection.

Some people just have no sense for aesthetics--is that IQ? Some of them are very smart and become successful. Likely to be sociopaths
It probably isn't possible but you have to find what you enjoy, and most people will not do that since they've learned (probably rightly) to find nothing valuable in books

IQ is just a mathematical concept for modern society to judge your potential as a good worker(notice how most of them are stemcels and bankers). Artistic or literary skills or understanding has very little to do with it, At max one might read slowly and take little more time to understand metaphors. But the point is your soul and emotions aren't slave to a number solely created to judge your efficiency in psychopathic post industrial jobs.

Yes. If your IQ is too far bellow the authorโ€™s target you wonโ€™t understand what the author is trying to communicate.

No. I never understand people who think this. I know some people who have problems with literacy but the solution is to take your time. Reading should be fun, it's not a competition, read five or ten pages a day and you finish most books in a month, it's easily accessible and it's fucking free, finding good literature to read is completely free. Take your time to think about the ten pages you just read, this will help with critical thinking skills and retaining information, look up words you don't know on your phone. Start with highly acclaimed children's books and authors, anything written by Rowling, Dahl, R.L. Stine, is good. Their books are easy to read and will get even the dumbest person acclimated to enjoying literature.
