didn't advances in neuroscience make him renounce his own concept? i found the concept pretty compelling, don't get me wrong. but i think at the end of the day, it was just another very neat sci-fi thought experiment that couldn't stand the test of time

What advances exactly and what did Watts say? I'm still waiting for an argument that consciousness is more than, at best just annoying antivirus against lies, or at worst a tragic evolutionary misstep like a deep space radio trying to examine itself with only radio wave metaphors.
