I never see anyone on here discuss Moravia despite him inventing the egirl in Boredom. IYO is his portrayal of boredom/noia accurate?

A good book on boredom would have to be a bit boring, I think that scares some readers away. The only Italian novel that is mentioned constantly on this board is The Tartar Steppe because it relatable for Neets.

1) cut your nails
2) the egirl can be symbolized with older archetypes such as that of a siren, so he didn’t really predict anything, he’s just representing man’s desire to possess a woman with neotenous features, a theme repeated in novels since antiquity.
3) his portrayal is accurate in so far as the pursuit of pussy being a classic way a man sedates against nihilism

The painter in Moravia's novel and his muse have quite a different relation than what a paypig has with an e-girl or internet whore. First off, he actually balled her. Second of all, the money he spent on her came with dates. And third, he got to literally shower her with physical money. Paypiggies get none of that as per usual.

Ironically that is also a book on boredoom, to a degree.

1) Ik
2) I was making a surface level (ostensibly unfunny) joke about how she has big eyes and wears short skirts. But you're right.
3) Hmmm, interesting...Do you think his whole "objects not seeming real" idea is applicable to you? I've never really felt about things as Dino does the cup in his example. Though I thought it was an interesting insight. Maybe one could say I've never truly been bored ig :P

She took the money he gave her and gave it to another man. They did not go on real dates the same way she did with her actual actor boyfriend. It's not a completely unalike the egirl paypig relationship. Also, I was just making a joke bc she wears short skirts and has big eyes :P

Yeah, it's pretty good if you like the feeling of "nothing is happening" in a quiet, dreamy atmosphere with some existental nightmare undertones.
