Anyone read this? Is it good? I tried to track down a pirated copy of it online. Searched Anna's, Z-library, Libgen... Nothing.

I haven't seen any bad reviews of it. Every time I look it up, there's nothing but positive reviews. The author also had lots of interviews, and the book was featured on some podcasts. I know that's not a metric to judge a book by, but if it's caught that attention, it must be of some merit. I also want to reread it as research.

I've read it. objectively, it's shit. very bad writer. guy's very pretentious too. chinese descent, in his 40s, and his work is highly rated largely due to his involvement in a tight knit group of obscure, self-published authors aligned with 4chan culture, who mutually promote each other. better writers to come out of 4chan: mike ma, john jay stancliff; that's about it honestly, at least from those I've read.

It’s just a sign of the times. The rate of male virgins over 20 has increased exponentially since the advent of smartphones and social media. Male/female dynamics have never been worse. Lonely men who have never had a meaningful relationship with a woman are not to blame for the hellscape that has led to their condition.

You're a G. It's funny the author wrote a whole article about his failed advertising attempts on /lit/, when the only way to draw the goodwill of anons is to offer them the book for free with no strings attached.

The novel, set in 2012, follows a 22-year-old graduate student in evolutionary psychology who is a virgin and identifies as an "incel". He makes a pact to lose his virginity by his 23rd birthday or orchestrate his own death by starting a fatal fight. The plot is driven by this deadline as he systematically attempts to pick up women using a pseudo-scientific model of seduction he develops, meticulously logging his hundreds of rejections. His primary relationships are with his cynical pickup-artist friend, Jason, who offers him manipulative dating advice, and his sister, Rachel, with whom his relationship frays and eventually breaks over his toxic worldview. After numerous failures, including a date that ends poorly when he pressures the woman to come home with him, he gets into a bar fight. This altercation leads him to meet a redhead named Chloe. The protagonist goes on a date with Chloe and successfully brings her back to her apartment. However, he suffers from severe performance anxiety and erectile dysfunction. Chloe is kind and helps him, and they have a brief, mechanically successful but emotionally hollow sexual encounter. He has technically achieved his goal just before his birthday. The next day, he wakes up feeling just as empty, realizing that losing his virginity has not solved his profound loneliness or self-loathing. He throws away his suicide materials and the calendar marking his deadline. The novel ends with him still emotionally lost, his future deeply uncertain.
