If you mean, "Should I avoid Bukowski because he’s meretricious?" then no. Within his limits he’s very good; much more skilful than people realize. (For one thing, he's funny almost all the time. When random idiots try to write like him they’re never funny.) Reading him will do you no harm at all.

If you mean, "Should I avoid Bukowski because reddit users like him and I might get lumped in with them?" then still no. You shouldn't avoid doing the right thing for the right reasons just because some people are doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. Forget reddit.

If you liked Post Office there's no reason not to read all of his novels, it's all the same thing pretty much, they're all fun. That said, Post Office is actually my favorite. I don't like his short stories but all of the novels are funny and well-written, so go for it.

I don't think that is a troon but boy is it rough.

What does CB's expression say?

— "LOOK WHAT I GOT, BOYS! AREN'TCHA JEALOUS?"

or

— “I’M SO HIGH-T I CAN EVEN GET IT UP FOR THIS!"

or

“I GOT A BELT *AND* A WATCH. I'M PRACTICALLY MIDDLE-CLASS!”

Maybe we’ll never know.

"the MAN'' doesn't think you should roll around in shit, so it must be a good idea. it's the look of such a man who has just found an especially smelly pile of shit to roll around in. it says "oh boy! dad will be so disappointed."

Bukowski is basically alright from my 1983-1990 and 2015-2025 NEET perspective. On the whole I identify with Elizabeth Bishop, and admire Stevens, at least in literary terms.

pound was a poets poet, he would reference and write in a complicated obscure manner, if you want a "simple" poet then go for william carlos william, but then i know you'll all be complaining about how "my kid could write that".
