I don't own any animals but I intend to raise a cat and golden retriever together so that they can be best friends. Maybe Schoppy should have had some more joy and whimsy in his heart

I fucking hate cats and especially dogs simply because they're completely anthropomorphized at this point. There are much more interesting and intelligent animals out there. Pets are a retarded concept.

I don't think there is much correlation between I.Q. and cat / dog preference.

People usually just bring out isolated examples (“Isaac Newton had a dog called Diamond!” “Albert Einstein had a cat called Tiger!”) but it would be interesting to try to do a really large-scale study. I have faith in statistics, if you get enough of them and you know what you are doing and you aren't trying to prove a particular point.

Another interesting question: how much of this preference is nature and how much nurture? You're usually going to prefer the one you're brought up with, but that's not everything. Women prefer cats and men dogs, is the cliché, and I assume there is some truth in it.

Homosexual men definitely prefer cats, don’t they? What about lesbians? Gertrude Stein & Alice thingy had dogs. On the other hand, Carson McCullers had a cat.

Oh well, doesn't mean much without at least a few hundred examples.

You would make for a great pet anon. I'd keep you in a little shed in my backyard and we could decorate it like a little man cave with all of your pulp fiction and Vidya. I'd feed you nuggets when you'd be good and you could come up to me all excited to divulge the next scraps of your dogshit philosophy that you've managed to glean from the works of schopie, bagel and kunt. Hell, I'd even allow you to join me during outings to places like restaurants but you'd have to sit at the small table, although that wouldn't bother you right big guy?

This quote is a lot more interesting within the context of widespread audio addictions. Legions of people with airpods always in-ear to provide a constant stream of sound.

Where I live it directly correlates with melanin enrichment and use of speaker phone to broadcast "conversations" and "music" outward. I heard a theory once that these sorts are trying to conquer space in an auditory way as a resentful backwards facing attack on their former owners. As if to say, my great great great grandparents weren't free and couldn't own property, so I will conquer this space nowadays and ruin it for you.

He's right about noise, but Schopenhauer himself famous owned a poodle.

The most succinct anti-canine argument I've read comes from Lovecraft, who compared dogs to slaves and cats to noble beings who couldn't care less about their owners and their attempts to please them.

You're attributing cognition where there isn't any. It's that they simply lack the ability to simulate the world around them, that there exist people other than themselves, that these people may not enjoy hearing the music, and that one might take in to consideration other people. It's just "I want music->I play music". And a generally lowered sensitivity in all regards toward all stimuli, so the music must be loud and the abss must be turned all the way up.

That's certainly a segment of it, but it spreads across the melanin spectrum. We're at the point that even young albino-passing individuals will supplement their studies and video games with a constant stream of music or podcasts. It also ignores the prominent early role of White women in habitual "asmr" use, even during their sleeping hours.

You can train dogs to not bark. I had a dog that was very chill. Never barked or ran off. Always returned when called. Never slept in my bed, never even went upstairs. Best trained dog i've ever had.

>It was said that, during his later life, Arthur Schopenhauer preferred to live in solitude, with the exception of his pet dogs, all of which were purportedly poodles. It was said that his company of animals had been an influential factor in the development of his view on animal rights.[10][11] All of his dogs were supposedly named "Atman", as in reflecting the sanskrit word for "true self"
>It was said that Schopenhauer, naturally having a misanthropic aversion to people, would rather spend his time with walks with his poodle. He gained some notoriety as a mostly lonesome man who kept only the company of his dogs during old age, taking walks with them often, having once written: "whoever has never kept dogs does not know what it is to love and be loved".[12]

so fuck off, OP
