Interesting structurally, but he's either poorly translated, or just straight up not a good writer.

Having read 3rd Reich and Savage Detectives, I found the prose unbearably dull. Savage Detectives is one of the two novels I just straight up dropped out of boredom, the other being War & Peace.
Spanish anons claim that all the narrators in part 2 of SD has a different voice, but it sure as hell doesn't come through in translation. I'm not expecting Joyce, but at least give me Pynchon.

Do you prefer War and Peace translations that translate the French parts in the text or in footnootes?

I read Constance Garnett. The long passages of French are translated to english while short common phrases remain the in French.

Also there were maybe 4 footnotes in the entire book.
I enjoyed it.
