Interesting structurally, but he's either poorly translated, or just straight up not a good writer.

Having read 3rd Reich and Savage Detectives, I found the prose unbearably dull. Savage Detectives is one of the two novels I just straight up dropped out of boredom, the other being War & Peace.
Spanish anons claim that all the narrators in part 2 of SD has a different voice, but it sure as hell doesn't come through in translation. I'm not expecting Joyce, but at least give me Pynchon.

I read Constance Garnett. The long passages of French are translated to english while short common phrases remain the in French.
