Phenomenology of Spirit. Some wild shit, very ambitious. Much more concrete and concerned with real life than Kant, Fichte or Schelling. It is a bitch to read. I was looking at scholarly interpretations of the “inverted world” and found five different ones. I look forward to mastering it but expect it to take at least a couple of months, maybe longer.

I'm re-reading The Last Gentleman by Walker Percy and it's not as good as I remember it. Love in the Ruins and moviegoer are still 5/5 great books but Gentleman is going down to a 3/5 so far.

I think it's because I'm older and find the amnesia really overly done. His other MC's are crazy in a fun way but this one is just such an unbelievable misanthrope that it's distracting.

It's also a general history of humanity to some degree. I enjoyed it a lot but the chapter on religion among primitive peoples was very boring, and by primitives it's mainly tribes of the last two centuries so probably it has little value for the history of religion.

Currently reading Treasure Island because I've never read the actual book, it's fine. Favorite part so far is the language used while Silver is scheming with the other crew members next to Jim's apple barrel. Might read either a history of actual piracy next or move over to Around The World In 80 Days.
