Why are there no positive "literally me" characters? It's always someone troubled and deranged like Holden Caulfield or Judge Holden. Why not someone like Nancy Drew?

Who has the judge as literally me? Why would someone who had that litterally me think of that character as negative?

But to answer ur question it's cuz ppl are icky. Even the prettiest nicest richest most ethical seeming people are filled with horrible antisocial desires deep down inside. Whether they act on them or not. Even Nancy drew a would be a shit detective without her mosterous side to ally with while following a crime desu

The archetype of the everyman or straight man is in every TV show for you to relate to. But we experience a stronger emotional response when we come into contact with someone who allows us to explore the darkest parts of ourselves which we are otherwise scared by. That's why you probably relate so much to characters from Giovanni's Room or Maurice

Lawrence of Arabia? The film version has almost the same Napoleon complex as Raskolnikov where he thinks he's some ubermensch who can do anything. He's also an autist outsider who doesn't fit in with either the British troops or the arabs. Plus you can tell he actually hates himself deep down.

Positive, well-adjusted people don't have "literally me"s because they have a strong sense of self. They are their own literally me, they are them. People who consider themselves troubled, those who are aloof, disillusioned, or antisocial, often don't know who they really are, so they cling to characters in media that are also aloof and antisocial, looking for answers. So there are no positive "literally me" characters because the sorts of people who say "this character is literally me" are not positive people.

This makes sense. When I did hallucinogens I would still retain a sense of self. I got derealization and never depersonalization. Once it was revealed to me that myself and God are the only two entities that exist and all of you are merely puppets he put here to make me think life has any meaning as I experience an endless cycle of death and rebirth for eternity just for his amusement because he is more powerful than me.

Because the average young man is totally mind-raped for his entire infancy, childhood, and adolescence. He was raised by parents that never prayed, or didn't teach him to; they counted the number of kids they let slip into existence against how many vacations they could take. Likely, their mother stopped breastfeeding them as soon as her employer slightly frowned because having a fractionally bigger house was all that mattered. They then stuffed him in some sunless box with the express purpose of racking up chair time so he could sit in another sunless box to get a big box in the churchless, centerless, hellscapes called the "suburbs" all the while never teaching him morals and letting women lord themselves over him after puberty. College became their only god in his fictional tetrology of meaningless. Then, they give him an internet device that streams porn, video games, and short form content. The only things he's confident in are some random science fun facts about evolution and the universe and in his free time masturbation--maybe if he isn't totally wasted by this dehumanizing process he watches anime, wow. He is the product of mass-heresy, complete apostasy, 1 billion body abortion and infant neglect cult feminism, and his only outlet or viable alternatives are by some religious Christians so visibly numbed and gullible to be not even skandalous but rather an anti-apologetic or to have suffered so obviously as to make the religion seem an outcome of suffering over the Truth. The modern world is 500 years of semi-accumulated nonsense that uses the word "liberty" to damn the world and open Hell on Earth. The only way out is the Eucharist but of course everyone will say their stupid "hot-take" and their influencer "insightful spin" and their fun little "philosophers coping drug" or their "post-truth" Nietzschean "too evolved to participate in fixing problems" but I'm telling you how to get out: Eat God.

A good answer, but I have my own theory, which is people usually hide their deep thoughts about themselves and the world; so problematic characters are written mostly to show for the reader the views and emotions they try to avoid daily. You just fight yourself inside your head, not outside.
