Just finished this book. And I have to say it was amazing. Setting aside the story for now, the prose flowed well and it was just overall pleasant reading the book. The occasional song was also a nice site everytime it was there, showing each races differing cultures, that could be felt from them. And obviously the story and themes were great as well. Enjoying your home fully trully only comes after experiencing a fulfilling adventure and making many a great friendship by your deeds. The setting was done so well, almost fairytale like, though I suppose that JRR Tolkiens aim. And it really went well, I felt as though I was reading a cultures myths and stories of old. Overall just an incredible read.
Thanks for reading and sorry if my text is incomprehnisble, I'm an ESL after all :((

I have to say I agree, Bilbo was more likable mostly due to how flawed and relatable he was. I'd say all of us have a Tookish and Baggins' side in us and JRR Tolkien really put it well. Like you could transpose that inner conflict to more mundane and everyday things and it would still fit.

no, it isn't. it's longwinded and all over the place. the hobbit is more focused and juicy.
