They always sound like fucking retards: Peterson tries to interact with things on a higher plane and then you have these mouth-breathers trying to bring the dialogue to the material plane "but uhh did Adam and Eve exist??" "do you believe in hell?" I honestly don't comprehend how Peterson is able to have so much patience with these people.

The problem with doing the same for religious scripture is that there are very powerful, dogmatic institutions that teach people to believe in their stories literally, and those people indeed do, and ruin everyone's day. Peterson does not take those kind of believers to task, so one has to suspect he's either audience-captured or is perfectly fine with fundamentalism but pretends he's more sophisticated. Either way, he could always say "no, it's not literally true" and go on to ramble about symbolic truth, but he refuses. Why?
