I mean yes, No Exit is one of those worth reading. But unabashedly claiming that he's a copy of Heidegger and Husserl's philosophies is purely reductive as a lot of french contemporaries were also inspired by their works as well.

So if you're saying Sartre is a ripoff, you might as well argue Derrida, Baudrillard, and Foucault are as well.

Christ, I really need to read more if bimbo celebrities are keeping up with me.

proof philosophy is for girls and history is a men's discipline.

jokes aside, if I dated some woman into philosophy I think she'd get insufferable really quick. and I appreciate thinkers like Descartes, Vico, Husserl, Kant, Nietzsche, etc.

rather just date some broad into hardboiled detective stories or one into Jane Austen or something.

If you have a preferred existentialist then you can do without. If you're still shopping around for an existentialist then yes.

The problem isn't that he copied Husserl and Heidegger, it's that he completely misunderstood them and constructed a pseudo-phemomenology to crudely justify his Marxism-Leninism. He was a Camus-tier hack and Marcel, a man who actually understood phenomenology, was right to dunk on him at every possible opportunity.

basically correct desu. Not in that there is "nothing to sartre" but rather in the west Sartre's position is so grossly inflated to the point of absurdity. The fact when anyone says "existentailist" it's assocaited with Sartre is principally a matter of social engineering in american universities, not anything in his ideas or views.
Anyone whose principal approach to "existentailism" is to look at people like Sartre and Camus would be correctly told they are falling for a fraud, and should not be taken seriously on the subject.

Marcel was also Sartre's teacher for a period.
