I'm really enjoying it. My first Markson book. Took my a little while understanding what was actually going on, but it's so enjoyable and funny that I didn't really mind the confussion lol. It's quite an interesting postmodern experiment and I like that it doesn't feel like a PoMo pretentious slog. It doesn't take itself too serious I Think.
How was Wittgenstein's Mistress? why did you like it?

At the time, it was different to anything I'd ever read. Still is, I suppose. It's the only Markson I've read, but I'll be keeping an eye out for this one now.

He's OK, but I found his constant liberal pro-Jewish bias more and more grating the more I read. (It’s also startling how blinkered he is when it comes to science, technology, mathematics, etc. The grown-ups who build and run the world might as well not exist for all he cares.)

Wittgenstein's Mistress (just about) works as a narrative, but after that, meh. The later books are more valuable as a compendium of interesting factoids than as a straight reading experience. I got Reader's Block, Last Novel & This Is Not A Novel and just cut them up and sorted everything by categories (ARTISTS CRITICIZE ARTISTS / ARTISTS PRAISE ARTISTS / ARTISTS & POVERTY / etc). In this form they're moderately fun and useful.
