Please tell me of spiritual or religious texts that I can read with these ideas firmly established in my mind. I have five practices: meditation, prayer, celibacy, non-lying, and asceticism (in some moderation). Two important guiding beliefs: god exists, and righteousness is the foremost of all priorities. I believe in an afterlife, and in karmic retribution at least on myself as a seeker, I don't know if everyone experiences karma as I do. So, please tell me if you know any good books about this and that could align with my beliefs rather well, doesn't have to be perfect. God bless. Pic unrelated.

<<<The Bible. NOTHING else.>>>

All others (e.g. Bhagavad, Quran, Kojiki) will open you up to demonic possession. Only the Bible won't open you up to demonic possession, since it's from God.

I see the bible with great admiration. However, Christianity not so much. The coran contains deeply moving themes about gnosis of the mysteries of god. I cannot believe you. King David is said to have been a great kabbalist.

Uh, did you just call Bhagavad gita "the deep Hindu stuff"? Bro you did not scratch the surface. Also a hint, read like the yoga sutras annorated by Vivekananda first and then give it another go. He will unlock some of the terminology for you to get started

I think the upanishads are good enough for me, I don't desire to practice real yoga except meditation, and I don't even do the Hindu style one I focus on my breathing. But thanks.

Basically his interpretation of the yoga sutras is pretty established as the "standard" nonduality interpretation. Its a great starting point if you dont rush through it. Might sound corny but do a lil mediration after each section and check your thoughts. Try to approach it with a want for it to make sense rather than sceptisism. Both are bias, why not chose the optimistic bias?

I honestly need to reject that, I subscribe to dualism, not non-dualism. Dualism of knower and know, god and man, spirit and matter.

Your practice sounds pretty dry. Meditations on the Tarot, and pay attention when he talks about dry vs wet eyes? Ladder of Divine Ascent might appeal to a lot of what you are doing, but you may also find that missing piece in there. Read the gospel of John, but not for the theology.

Gnosticism has one-off errors that take you to the wrong place. You might be conflating David and Solomon. Read Samuel/Kings to see how each fell into error and how each did or did not get out of it. If you want to keep going down that rabbit hole, read Psalms and look for traces of the Master. Psalm 51 shows Him and the Spirit working in conjunction. You can contrast with Proverbs, which is good but also has self-power elements and Song of Songs/Solomon which is also good, also looks forward in parts, but is also where people love to bring up pagan elements.

Who you are adressing with your prayers? Just wondering how this works if one hasn't committed oneself to a specific religion.
