i have been re-reading Crime and punishment and i am shocked by how worse my focus is compared to when i first read it 5 years ago, i am constantly distracted by my inner voice/internal monologue/random thoughts etc
i can't believe i got through this at some point, now i constantly miss important details and get lost in the plot and have to re read entire pages, it's like my mind is not there a third of the time at least

Read something which you find more exciting. It's fine to put a book down. It must not be the right time for you to read Crime and Punishment. Try Catcher in the Rye, or The Death of Ivan Ilyich, or Slaughterhouse Five. Or the Stranger by Camus

Try to gaslight yourself into finding the book interesting. It won't be easy, you'll be fighting an uphill battle against your own mind but that's the only way if you want to become less retarded.
