I legit never found a romance across literature that resonates with me in any way. I suppose is mostly because love is this invisible, unspeakable thing, deeply personal in nature, that neither novel or classic slop have been able to nail down for me. But somewhat related, there's this Finnish author that does VN's that have written my absolutely favorites love tales of all times, so there's that if anything.

And never yet, since high in Paradise
O'er the four rivers the first roses blew,
Came purer pleasure unto mortal kind
Than lived through her, who in that perilous hour
Put hand to hand beneath her husband's heart,
And felt him hers again: she did not weep,
But o'er her meek eyes came a happy mist
Like that which kept the heart of Eden green
Between the useful trouble of the rain.

It doesn't. If you don't care if she suffers, you don't love her. Women just cope about shitty guys or whatever.

He must've thought about killing himself every single day. Even wanted to jump off a cliff (where he lost his hat). A gun was a guaranteed way. He talked about suicide with Albert multiiple times, and Albert was likely the most accessible (to Werther) source of firearms at the time.
But Werther also had pleasure in getting the gun from Albert specifically, thus involving him into the [indirect gun]fight for Lotte. Imagine how hard he must've came when his servant said Lotte herself gave the pistols, essentially giving her blessings.

Books are expensive when new, and young I went through dry periods. No less than three times, I was recommended to try romance. All three times, I hated it.
Years later, as an adult. "the Last Enchantment". It was a paperback, in a house I bought. I actually liked it. The author (I think female) got a big bestseller, out of combining fantasy with romance. *NOT* a smut fest. Had a plot that was engaging.
Romance by itself, I tend to hate. Mixed with a percentage of other genre(s) though? It can work, and add realism and life to the dry story.

>>24563112
I will try my best to explain, but this is actually specifically part of the appeal: a man who is otherwise practical and emotionally hardened lapsing in self-control when it comes to you specifically and giving into senseless selfish desire/passion/whatever. There's also a component here in that, even when fantasizing, women struggle to comfortably disinhibit themselves without feeling like a whore so an imagined scenario where you are forced to go along with it circumvents that.

Women "really" want to be raped by alphachad in the same way that men "really" want to die in war - as in, objectively knowing these are horrible traumatizing things that Fuck You Up, and yet the fantasy has an inexplicable allure because of one million years of cultural and instinctual drives ingrained deep into our brains. Men have been fighting since the dawn of society and dying for their tribe, women ideally mate with those that are aggressive and possessive enough to do just that: protect them and their offspring.

Admittedly though, 100% Rape like bookrel is probably too extreme for most modern ~dark fantasy~ booktok slop romance readers, wherein the woman physically enjoys it and the evil mafiabosswerewolfdemonlord gives a safeword or whatever. In a silly way, I am very particular about my Fantasy Rape.

why we cant have nice things, example 128
someone was poisoned; poison was in Tylenol plastic bottle. Its the single reason why some aspirin bottles are adult-proof. This was around the same time when razor blades in Halloween candy became some sort of horror story on morning news shows.
