lol i just sampled the first page ngl the opening sentence was like wow for a shitty self-published book it wasn't like "the protagonist woke up because it was morning" it was instead some weird shit that i had to read three times to parse. also i like that's it's apparently about a loser not some uber rad cyberpunk cynical sex machine in a mustang or whatever shit most 4chan chudlords would try to write. at 9 bucks the price is right, i might actually order this shit next time i get some amazon lol.

Haha I wrote the first half of the book before I got married and I was drinking a lot. I don’t know if that changes anything.

I basically grew up on 4chan though. I’m in my early 30s so I think I am the oldest of oldfags. I remember posting “milhouse is not a meme” way back in the day. I still love it here. i read pdfs and used to read physical books so im qualified to answer
i cant be bothered. i look online and if the pdf seems interesting ill download and give it a read, half the time i drop it. theres no commitment there, i didnt spend any money on a physical book so i just couldnt care any less about it even if its a good book (like yours is)
now if i were to pay for something i have to sit on it and think about what book to read and then go out and buy it. im much more invested in it and much more likely to give a review

not the author but it seems like you are trying to force an analogy btn consumables like food and clothes, and books which doesn't work because you would be leaving a review about liking the paper or the cover or the book's new smell, the actual material instead of the readable content which doesn't require purchasing, it's a poor attempt at your lazy justifications

I like the cover art, but the sample i just read wasn't great, and the fact that it opens with "Please don't take this book too seriously." is big fuck off moment. Expecting people to pay real money for a 162 page pamphlet, i'm going to take it seriously, give me something worth reading or it wasn't worth publishing it.

Like the cover though.

Fair enough. The main themes of the book are American rot and the brutality of ideology against regular working people. It plays with stereotypes and I didn’t want people who are too into their identity du jour to not be able to see the forest from the trees. If it’s not for you, no worries at all but the introduction is basically a kind of waiver for people who are inclined to get too angry about little things that don’t matter.

Poor, stupid people who get wrapped up in the changing political and social tides of an absurd reality. Bad deals with cartels, social media smear campaigns by dumb bimbos, lots of drinking. Supposed to inspire the reader to have a little more compassion for the people who are out of the loop and constantly mocked because they probably can't help it. Parts of it are also pretty funny.

>Is it based on authentic information or is it created by your guesses?

I grew up pretty middle class but I feel like I know the poor pretty well. I worked in factories, was a deck hand for a few summers, served beer at a flea market concession stand, worked in an ER that served rural poor and homeless.

Some might feel like I'm punching down a little bit. Spending time with poor people in the US, you realize that much of their suffering is their own fault, but also that this doesn't necessarily make them any less of victims if that's all their capacity was.

I wrap it up with humor. Kat, the female protagonist, is being replaced at her customer service Wal-Mart job by a shitty automated robot. She gets into a tiff with a social justice warrior type, and the event goes viral, mocking the uncultured white trash at Walmart. She goes home to her trailer park days later, and there is a protest outside the trailer park. Things like that. It mocks everyone in the milieu.

It's supposed to be absurd but human. Someone once in another thread about the book metioned it reminded him of The Big Lebowski and Raising Arizona and I was so glad to hear that because those were major influences on me.
