Why has he never commented on Guenon and Evola? Surely he's read the most important thinkers of the 20th century, right?

what's up with Zizek. I feel that he just tows the common technocrat line but arrives there with such by such a roundabout way that his readers feel better about supporting the "right thing"

He has said before in a review of the Joker movie from 2019 I believe that he doesn’t even watch most of the movies he discusses but goes off of a general overview of their plots he read and then uses that as a springboard to discuss philosophical tangents from Hegel and co.

For example that review of Lubitsch’s to be or not to be where he just uses that one joke (concentration camp Gerhardt I presume?) to discuss complex philosophical beliefs. Honestly he comes across as very ADHD and I doubt he has the patience to watch a full movie to completion.

Evola is basically sceptic Descartes and Guenon is basically stoic Descartes. For Zizek specifically this likely entails that Evola is too cynical for any sort of serious political response and Guenon has to figure out what he is first since he couldn't find any traditions in Buddhism to make the east/west leap.

Zizek aimed to immanentise schizoanalysis by acting as the Pervert in Chief who needed castration. He is trapped inside a shell of jokes.

Also Guenon became functionally Albanian, and two albanians and a bottle destroyed Yugoslavia.

Did you not read where Zizek takes the place of the Pervert in Chief who seeks to be castrated?

>My God
*sniffs nose*
>This is precisely the kind of vulgar simplification that perfectly exemplifies the problem with today’s discourse
*pulls shirt*
>You know, the paradox is that I am constantly accused of both being a self-hating antisemite AND a Zionist shill- which should tell you something, no?
*sniff*
>But let me be clear- and this is where people get confused: when I criticize certain forms of anti-Zionism, it is not because I “support Israel” in some simple sense. No!
*wipes spittle off beard*
>What I am against is this fetishization of the palestinian cause by western leftists who use it as a kind of sublime object to fill the void of their own political impotence. You know what I mean? *gestures vaguely*
>and about antisemitism, my God, here we must be very careful. The problem is not that we should “persecute” antisemites… in fact this is already the wrong framing. The problem is that today’s antisemitism comes wrapped in the language of anti-imperialism, anti-capitalism, and so on. It is not the old biological racism, but something more perverse… a kind of ideological displacement where “the Jews” or “the Zionists” function as a fetish to explain all the contradictions of global capitalism
>You know, this reminds me of a joke I once heard in Belgrade
*does not return to the topic of Israel again*

You need to remember that biology doesn't exist and Zizek wants you fascists shot. Except when Serbia invades Bosnia because Slovenia jumped into Germany's anus like a hamster.
