Herbert really dropped the ball with this one, didn't he?

Dune peaked with Messiah. God Emperor is overrated. All the other sequels are slop tier.

Feels like only the first book is good desu, the rest just don't live up to what he hyped up.

He dropped the ball with Fremen in the first one, also with the on-the-stage ending of it. I couldn't give less of a fuck about their fanaticism or rewriting the Baron to be a hapless twerp.

Messiah is the best book in the series. There is absolutely no reason to read beyond it either.

I wanna find out what happens to Paul's kids, though, and if Paul survived his sojourn to the desert.

Dune is quite literally 800 pages of tedious buildup to one of the most kino SF books I've read in recent years. I reckon Children–>God Emperor will be the same.

Your tedious post history could also fill an 800 page book, the difference between you is he is celebrated and you’re now on my filter list

I need to finish this one, I did not like the first one that much. Did not do anything for me.

I liked that it was a reasonable length. Not every novel has to be 600 pages. I’ve really come to appreciate books that have the discipline to convey their themes in a succinct 200-250 pages and detest books that just meander around for 800+ pages. You aren’t Dostoevsky.
