Writers sculpt sentences but not their bodies. How can they claim to write about life if they've never tested their body against it?

But to answer your question its the same kind of energy that is directed into either muscular or nervous, mental energy, so developing the one will likely sacrifice the other, though I degree it is important to be well rounded and intellectuals should exercise as they feel like doing so

Successful writers with a bit of money from a project are ironically well placed to pursue a life of fitness.

you're not testing your body against life in the gym, you're testing it against synthetic constructs created for the sole purpose of mimicry
it is not action, nor is it play, just optimized recursive simulations of non-real effort

Gym is boring as fuck and it eats your time. How are you going to be a writer when you spend all your life lifting shit. I don't mind exercise but I do rock climbing and hiking for fun when I feel like it, maybe like 2-6 hours weekly.
>but women won't like you!
I literally don't give a shit. I'm mgtow precisely because I don't want to waste my life for female approval.
>but you can't defend yourself
I'm European so I carry a knife, in America you can just get a gun. This isn't fucking caveman times anymore and even in caveman times they used spears and rocks

You may have had an argument like 100,000 years ago when weaponry hadn't been invented. Today you can just shoot someone. Plus if I wanted self defence I'd join a boxing club not lift weights. Pic related, flabby bodied Andy Ruiz destroys Greek God Anthony Joshua

if you dont use your body, you lose it
and so thats the logic behind doing exercise and staying in shape. dont take it for granted! people fall apart! all the people you feel better than in public have physical ailments as the source of their problems. the reason you are able to feel better than them is your painfree body!

From my experience, you need to invest 6-10 hours a week into anything to develop.
6-10 hours lifting, running, making yourself uncomfortable.
6-10 hours learning new, possibly boring, maybe uncomfortable stuff.
6-10 hours developing relationships, socialising, public peaking - whatever pushes you to a level of discomfort.
Comfort is bad for people at any age, as you get older it is fatal.

people who do bodybuilding never tell you about their injuries. my friend asked me to join him all the time and I never did because I'm lazy. years later I found out he damaged his shoulder and was battling with pain that never went away all these years. he never once told me about it. I think he wanted me to go to gym and injure myself too so he wouldn't have to be the only sucker who went into that stinky loud place instead of playing video games like me. then he realized I never will and just opened up about it. gymgoers are insecure suckers.

>testing your body against life
By lifting weights in an air-conditioned room?
Many writers were explorers, mountaineers etc. An actual test of the body against the world.

if u think weightlifting won't fuck up your body just go on /fit/ and see all the people complaining they can't lift heavy anymore because they blew out their back/shoulder/knee/whatever also watch the threads of videos of lifters passing out and getting crushed by weights etc. just workout normal don't be a spaz and try to pick up a refrigerator worth of plates.

Weight lifting retardedly will certainly fuck you up, but the part about being a retard is the issue, not weight lifting itself.
I go to the gym at 5 am 4x/week, and have been since high school/college and I'm 32. We have a ton of 80+ year old men and women (mostly men) in there lifting weights that have been doing so most of their lives that are all very active for their ages.

Muscle density is now known to be one of the most key factors for longevity. This doesn't mean you should kill yourself trying to do 500lb deadlifts, or give yourself hart palps and a heart attack eventually doing roids, it just means that lifting properly over an extended period of time is very good for you.

If you think /fit/ is somehow the standard by which weightlifting should be judged, you're right, you should probably avoid the gym and weightlifting.
