Where's Spot is fairly predictable, like most books of its nature you know he won't be found toward the end, so the steps leading up to it feel extraneous. Still manages some good surprises.
Dear Zoo is the star here, though. It tells a believable tale of a person asking a zoo for a pet, and the zoo going full malicious compliance mode. It's great. It's a bit too easy to guess at the animals under each cage, and the ethical considerations of sending the "wrong" animal back to the zoo are never explored, but I like getting the mail so I projected strongly into the main character.
I'd earmark at least 10-15 hours each to read, digest, and then re-read each one. Good luck!
