That's Sorokin for you. Vulgar and disgusting is kind of part of his artistic palette.
Partially, he just uses it to scandalize the audience (Pelevin does that too). Partially, it is used as a way to parody the political estabilishment, which likes ceremony, pomp and circumstance.

Just finished it, it’s so fucking plump and vulgar. Yes, we got it, you hate Russian authoritarianism. But don’t expect a smart critique of it, just pure obscenities. Seriously: I have a Russian friend and sometimes i send her messages in russian as a joke; just expressions and words I ask Chatgpt to translate. It turns out half of those expressions and words are either fucking curse words (how the fuck is uterus a curse word!?) or Gopnik Speak. EVEN FUCKING SPASIBO IS SOMEHOW GOPNICK SPEAK! She may be mocking my ignorance, but still I no longer risk it. I no longer send her messages and Russian and only send messages in Ukrainian to my Ukranian friends who are native Russian speakers. Sounds and looks like a prettier and more elegant language anyway.

It used to make them unique, brilliant, authentic. Now they are confused by public recieving them with a shrug instead of roaring resonance. I don't know but it was disgusting. It doesn't help that the translation I read had the exact same language old Slavic fairy tales had, which I can't explain but it's really annoying. Fuck Russia btw
