I’ve been planning to read the Stormlight Archives this year but then I came across an article saying that there’s a lot of wokeness in that book, including a trans army or some shit like that. Is all that true? I thought this guy was supposed to be a Christian, what the fuck?

He's a Mormon. They're not Christians. I don't know what woke means at this point but he's kind of a feminist, yes.

Christians consist of over a billion people on planet earth and literally hundreds of denominations. It is statistically impossible for all of them to be tradcaths.
Also, do you think it is impossible to have a dissenting view within a religion while also belonging to that religion? Maybe you should try scientology op, that sounds more your speed. Total obedience, total submission, no independent thought.

It is literally and very clearly written in the Bible that homosexual acts are an abomination and condemned by God. It’s not a question of interpretation, it’s literally written there with those exact words, how can someone interpret it as “we must be nice and accept homosexuals”?

>Is Brandon Sanderson woke?
Yes, in the sense that he's aware of systemic injustices caused by inequality. No, in the sense that he's politically left or aligns with anything associated with it in a truly meaningful way.

>I came across an article saying that there’s a lot of wokeness in that book, including a trans army or some shit like that. Is all that true?
Here's what was in his latest Stormlight Archive book, Wind an Truth:
>a shower sex scene between a married heterosexual couple (although there are no actual sex acts described, nor explicit descriptions of breasts or genitalia)
>A mostly-normal gay man (confirmed gay several books ago)
>A male gay couple (composed of a literally autistic human and a type of alien/metahuman)
>A legally-recognized female-to-male transgender person who volunteers to help a desperate army and is depicted as being particularly strong but still viewed as obviously-female by a male character from a different culture
>a researcher monk that seems to be non-binary that joined their order to escape male attention
>a non-binary magical spirit/fairy AI
Those are the most obvious ones that stand out to me as significant. There may be others I'm forgetting or were featured in previous books more.

>I thought this guy was supposed to be a Christian, what the fuck?
Sanderson is Mormon/Latter-day Saints. Mormons have an extra holy book and set of spiritual dogma that EVERY single other Christian denomination says is heresy. It's considered extremely disingenuous to pretend that Mormons are "actually the same" as other Christians. Mormons tend to align culturally with white American protestant Christians, but they aren't exactly the same. If anything, Mormons are known for being slightly MORE conservative though.

With that out of the way, you may as well read Sanderson's own thoughts on the matter. Here's something he wrote on the subject himself in 2023:
https://faq.brandonsanderson.com/knowledge-base/ive-heard-you-are-a-practicing-member-of-the-church-of-jesus-christ-of-latter-day-saints-what-are-your-opinions-on-gay-rights-particularly-in-light-of-the-churchs-controversial-rel/
It also contains a link to an older blogpost he wrote about Dumbledore from Harry Potter being gay.

Sanderson catches shit from areligious liberal-progressives because they think he won't commit to being openly pro-LGBT. He catches shit from religious conservatives because he has gay people in his books. In his older Dumbledore blogpost, he has this line:
>Point Two: DEPICTION is NOT ENDORSEMENT.
I personally think Sanderson still believes this, even though he walks it back a little publicly. I don't think, as a devout Mormon, that he thinks being gay is morally good or even just benign. He probably teaches all his kids that being gay is a sin and unhealthy. That said, I think he is fully aware that he exists in a world with gay people that he believes are mistreated, and uses his writing to explore this because he's a huge nerd.

Everything that I've read from and about him suggests that he's incredibly nice to a fault. He strikes me as someone who is a "pleaser." His books follow in that same vein--his broadly liberal approach to social issues has a very "after-school special" vibe to it. So I basically get the impression that he includes a lot of PC stuff in his newer books because he genuinely wants to be thought of as a good and nice person, and that is the kind of thing that good and nice people do. Or in other words, he doesn't want to rock the boat, and these days the boat drifts leftward.

What do you think the Episcopalian Church is? Atheists? They literally believe in the divinity of Jesus, and also do gay marriage. It doesn't make sense to call them not Christians because you're an autistic retard who doesn't know the definition of words and it hurts your feelings.

There are fat Mexican ladies sacrificing chickens to mother Mary, lmao, all the way down south. “Shamans”. Fucking nuts. Also Vodou is a Catholic laced type of religion. Loa are angels. Even far back enough in medieval history you had folk attempting to summon angels, but also demons, using the power of God. Church masses and the lighting of candles is all too indistinguishable from witchcraft.

poor world scaling conflicts, character work doesn't get better for most and outright is insultingly trite in some major characters, magic system is a bit too masturbatory like honestly print little symbols and +100 experience points like Dungeon Carl it's egregious, and he can't write intimacy or emotional depth outside of a few good dynamics (i.e. responsible father/cool edgy bro)

Literal and very clear, sure, but in the old testament only.

There are many ways to explain the notable differences between how god is presented in the two texts, but the easiest to swallow is simply: God changed his mind, he became less strict and harsh on certain moral acts that were no longer important to him
