Was the replacement of the romance with the novel in literary society a mistake for literature as a whole, /lit/?

As if the books below aren't older than the books above. Half of those women don't even have pictures in black and white, anon. The first novel ever written was literally a romance written by a woman. There's no replacement. If anything, the male rise in books was an outlier.

The cherrypicking is in the favour of women, and it's not even close. OP constantly posts this as a falseflag because he's a seething "foid" (wnbaw).

The top row has maybe one novel that's /lit/ top 100 tier. The bottom row is some of the best novels ever written by women.

Bottom is why literature is being phased out btw. No one cares to spend their few free hours per day chugging through a dry tome. The books that do actually sell now are still epic and magical in nature. Sure most of it's slop, but there was once a time when the stories were simultaneously entertaining and penetrating.

He is the true prototype of the British colonist, as Friday (the trusty savage who arrives on an unlucky day) is the symbol of the subject races. The whole Anglo-Saxon spirit is in Crusoe.
