does this series get better past the first book? im reading foundation right now and i cant get over the fairly cringy dialogue but find the overall concept interesting. im not sure if i should ascribe the 'le witty underdog outsmarts le hyperbolic, overly rigid pompous, arrogant, stubborn authority figure archetype' to wholesome 50's sensibilities or if it's just the authors kikery. does the series get better in the later books?

No it most definitely gets worse.

That's Asimov for you. If you can't take shit dialogue don't read Asimov.
