Just finished Siddartha by Herman Jesse. It vindicated my suspicion of Buddhism as a resentful transvaluation of Hinduism. I'm not convinced of the notion that time is cyclical in a literal sense, but I see it making some amount of metaphorical sense.

Don't have anything lined up for the near future. I'm moving soon and will be finishing my junior year next semester. probably won't have time for personal reading given my course load.

things are so bad now. I was talking to our department chair a while back and he was seriously concerned about the future of the classical languages program. He said that they've been struggling to attract any faculty with a background in ancient Greek that doesn't have some very obvious ideological motivation for entering the field (either for religious or woke reasons). English programs are already incredibly bleak and precarious, and classical studies seems like it's on the brink of annihilation. Extremely depressing developments
