Can we agree that the last book was kinda bad. Having most of the plan discussed in that little war room, hidden from the reader isn't very good writing. There's only so much you can keep hidden without the reader not even understanding the goals, and this last book blew past it. Also, trying to tie up so many storylines while making new ones just made the book feel bloated. Hopefully the next one is better.

Book 5 is the best one. 6 is okay, although the audiobook is great due to that guy who voiced Kronk in Emporer's New Groove being one of the villains, and book 7 was disappointing but floor 9 was never going to live up to expectations.
I dropped the series first attempt because the first book is so fucking bad. It got so much better from book 2 and onwards though.

The best break down of what LitRPG is came from a YouTuber that compared it watching someone play professional sports. Part of the thrill of watching a football or basketball game is watching athletes that are really good at what they do. LitRPGs are the same thing but with D&D. Yes, that's fundamentally the fatal flaw of the genre. If the systems were based off of existing games then a reader could try these strategies for themselves. But the kinds of people are so dopamine addicted from gaming that a character saying they have a bigger number now is equal to character development in their mind.
Another fundamental flaw it shares with Isekai is the idea that an Average Joe rising to become a hero isn't enough anymore. The Hero's Journey takes too long. The hero NEEDS to become a god with a harem of beautiful women from page 1. The closest thing to restraint you'll see is some Asian authors like to open with their MCs getting brutally bullied to justify their immoral behavior later.
In short consumers of this particular brand of slop have so little control over their lives that their fantasies need to be absolute and laid out in the clearest most mathematical terms. A true atrophy of the imagination.

I hate seeing this kind of shit. Litrpgs, anime, tongue-in-cheek fantasy and sf, nerd and geek media and all the adjacents. It's not only vapid and uninteresting, but worse, lame. It has not a single redeeming quality.
